About our book studio

Discover the people, principles and passion behind every book we create. We believe that every story matters — and that it deserves to be told beautifully.

Our story

Bespoke Books was founded in 2016 by a small group of editors, designers and publishing professionals who shared a single conviction: that the process of creating a book should be as rewarding as holding the finished product. Tired of the impersonal, assembly-line approach that dominated the industry, they set out to build a studio where every project receives the individual care and creative attention it deserves.

What began as a two-person operation in a converted linen mill in Northern Ireland has grown into a dedicated team of twelve specialists, each bringing deep expertise in their craft. Over the past nine years we have helped more than six hundred authors, businesses and families bring their ideas to life — from intimate poetry chapbooks to large-format coffee-table volumes, from corporate histories to debut novels that went on to win literary prizes.

Despite our growth, we have never lost the ethos that started it all. We still limit the number of projects we take on at any given time so that every client receives undivided attention. We still hold face-to-face kick-off meetings whenever possible, because understanding your vision in depth is the foundation of everything we do. And we still celebrate every finished book as if it were our first.

Our studio sits at the crossroads of tradition and innovation. We honour centuries-old principles of fine typography and bookbinding while embracing modern tools — from digital pre-press workflows to e-book accessibility standards. This blend of old and new allows us to produce books that feel timeless yet perform flawlessly in today's multi-format landscape.

Inside the Bespoke Books artisan workshop

Mission and values

Our mission is simple: to make the art of book creation accessible, enjoyable and exceptional for everyone. These core values guide every decision we make.

Craftsmanship

We treat every manuscript, layout and cover as a craft project — not a commodity. Quality is never rushed, and shortcuts are never taken. From the choice of paper stock to the kerning of a chapter title, every element is considered with care and intention.

Collaboration

Your book is your vision. We see ourselves as skilled collaborators, not gatekeepers. We listen carefully, ask the right questions and offer expert guidance — but the creative direction always remains in your hands. The best results come from genuine partnership.

Transparency

No hidden fees, no vague timelines, no surprises. We provide detailed proposals before any work begins and keep you updated at every milestone. You will always know exactly where your project stands and what comes next.

Integrity

We only take on projects we are confident we can deliver to the highest standard. If a request falls outside our expertise, we will tell you honestly and recommend a trusted colleague. Our reputation is built on trust, and we protect it fiercely.

Sustainability

We are committed to reducing the environmental impact of printing. We partner with FSC-certified printers, use vegetable-based inks where possible, and advise clients on eco-friendly paper choices. Beautiful books and responsible practices are not mutually exclusive.

Excellence

We hold ourselves to the same standards as the finest independent publishers. Every proof is checked three times. Every colour is calibrated. Every binding is tested for durability. The result is a book you will be proud to share for generations.
